Durasyn® polyalpha olefin is produced on the Feluy site in Belgium, Europe. Besides the Durasyn polyalpha olefin production unit, which was constructed in 1991, there is also the linear alpha olefins production unit at Feluy, where the decene used for PAO manufacture is produced.
Quality is important at Feluy. From feedstocks through intermediates and to the final product, the quality control laboratory maintains tries to insure that no change in the production process occurs that would have a negative impact on the product specifications.
With respect to the environment, the site is certified ISO 14000. Pollution is minimized using technologies that limit production waste and air emissions as well as effluent waste. This also allows INEOS to reduce the site energy consumption as well as feedstock consumption. Most catalyst gases and other emissions, including those used in the production of Durasyn PAO's, are collected and recycled, or sent to specialised firms to be treated and recycled.
