Isoamylene

Iso-Amylene is a highly specialised chemical intermediate, finding use as a feedstock in applications ranging from flavours and fragrances through to agrochemicals.

Innovene is a world leader in the production of Iso-Amylene, with its integrated feedstock supply position and highly efficient production processes.

Isoamylene is used for a number of applications, notably in the manufacture of fragrances, herbicides, alkylated phenols, isoprene and tert-amyl alcohol. It is also commonly employed as a comonomer, for example in polyethylene and polypropylene, and as a stabiliser for chlorinated hydrocarbons.

The product is manufactured at the Innovene Köln site, and exists as an isomeric mixture containing approximately 85% 2-methyl-2-butene and 15% 2-methyl-1-butene.
