Methylpropadiene

Methylpropadiene, also known as 1,2-butadiene or methylallene, is a highly reactive molecule used exclusively as a chemical intermediate. Its principle use is as a co-monomer in 1,3-butadiene based rubbers and elastomers, where it is used to modify the polymer's physical characteristics. Methylpropadiene is also a valuable intermediate for the synthesis of molecules in the flavours and fragrances industry, where it finds use as a safe replacement for potentially explosive acetylenes.
