Codibutylene

Codibutylene is a mixture of C8 Isoolefins resulting from the dimerisation of Isobutylene with linear n-Butene. It contains close to 85% of Trimethylpentenes, although none of the 2,2,4-TMP1-2 isomers found in the Diisobutylene grades. It provides thus a high degree of branchiness looked for in Isoolefins. Codibutylene has a C8 isoolefin content of better than 98% and virtually zero sulphur and aromatics content.

Codibutylene is suitable for a range of chemical intermediate applications. These include the production of isononyl alcohol and acid for plasticisers and solvent components, and octylphenols.
