Durasyn® polyalpha olefins (PAOs) are true synthetic hydrocarbon chains and as a result, are excellent substitutes (or upgrades) for mineral oils in demanding applications.
In the 1970’s, Durasyn polyalpha olefins were marketed mainly in military and aviation applications where their high and low temperature properties (low pour points and high flash points) plus superior thermal and oxidative stability achieved the highest standard of performance. Durasyn PAO grades also maintained the highest standard of safety through reduced breakdowns and reduced fire risk. Today, the production of synthetic, high performing lubricants for passenger car and heavy duty diesel engine crankcase oils is the largest application for Durasyn fluids. The use of Durasyn base oils in engine motor oils can contribute to longer drain intervals, increased fuel economy and reduced emissions.
Furthermore, Durasyn PAOs are authorized for use as components of non-food articles intended for contact with food as specified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Title 21 CFR Part 177.178.3620(b). Durasyn polyalpha olefins are considered non-toxic.
Durasyn PAO’s performance is sought after for a large number of industrial and automotive applications including passenger car motor oils, lubricants for wind turbines, heavy-duty diesel engine oils, fiber optic cable compounds, transmission fluids, compressor oils, hydraulic oils and gear oils.
